NANTGAREDIG 53 LLANDYBIE 12
Llandybie travelled to Nantgaredig minus a number of injured players to play table topping
Nant. They were fortunate to have the services of Rob Smith, Aled Tommason and Rhydian
Jones all returning after three months out.
Nant attacked from the off using their very good back line and scored from a hack ahead
after two minutes. They increased their lead with a penalty to lead 8 – 0. Llandybie were
guilty of some loose kicking having the ball run back at them. From a kick through Rob Smith
and Alex Wigley won the race to the touch down. Llandybie had a penalty and elected to
kick to touch. James Tommason took the throw from Dan Brooks and set up a driving maul.
The ball ran loose and Rob Smith was first to touch down for a score converted by Aled
Tommason. From a scrum Nant burst through a tackle to score a try by Daf Lewis with
Meirion Davies adding the extras. This was followed by a try from left winger Iwan Thomas
converted by Davies. Thomas broke through again but Connor Thomas got across to make a
try saving tackle. Another try followed again through the middle for Nant to lead 25 – 7 at
half time.
The second half Llandybie made some good carries by Rhydian Jones and Lyndon Davies
moving the ball to winger Josh Lewis who found Ethan Walters in support and Lyndon
Davies again involved passing to Dan Brooks to crash over. James Tommason was
everywhere for Llandybie winning line out ball and making tackles in the loose. Llandybie
lost young Matthew Rees with concussion replaced by prop Dai Lloyd. Llandybie brought on
Ben Featherstone and Rhydian Jones but the Nant backs were excellent and scored another
four tries to win 53 points to 12.
Llandybie kept going to the end but were well beaten by a very good side, everyone could
see why they are unbeaten. Llandybie will have to work hard especially in training to get
fitter and back to winning ways against Cefneithin. Come on boys, get out training next
week and get back to winning ways.
